Welcome to the Berks County Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association - Group of Distinction - Elm Level Honor

It is my pleasure to announce for the 2014/2015 reporting period, the Berks County Chapter has been named a Group of Distinction by the Penn State Alumni Association.  This award is our 5th in 6 years.  Additionally, the Chapter has been awarded the highest level of recognition, the Elm Level.

The Group of Distinction award is given to chapters, societies, and alumni interest groups (AIGs) which excel in their engagement with alumni and in the community.  The program is comprised of 15 categories and is broken down into three recognition levels; the Lion, Laurel, and Elm.  The categories are goals each group must work toward each fiscal year.  Among the categories are Alumni membership and recruitment, social interaction, annual contribution to group's endowment, community service, support of Alumni Association events, a joint activity, new or innovative programs, financial support of students, and THON support.  The Chapter completed 14 out of the 15 categories to achieve the Elm level distinction.

By achieving this award, the Chapter will receive a number of benefits, including recognition in the upcoming issue of the Penn Stater Magazine, along wtih a chance to win $1,000 toward an initiative of our choice.

I am very proud and appreciative of our Board members and volunteers' commitment to further the mission of the Chapter, to all of the Alumni and friends of Penn State living in Berks County who patronize our events, and to those who financially support our Chapter's endowed scholarship, THON fundraising, and philanthropy endeavors.  This award is just the latest example we have to be proud of the work being done to keep you connected to your alma mater.

If you are interested in getting involved and volunteering to help us achieve 15 out of 15 categories this year, please contact me directly.  I look forward to celebrating with all of you at an upcoming Chapter event.
