Chapter Donates $5,000 to THON

The Chapter is pleased to announce a $5,000 donation to Berks Benefitting THON

February 16, 2017 - Today, the Berks County Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association will present a check for $5,000 to the Berks Benefitting THON organization during the annual Dancer Sendoff celebration on the Penn State Berks Campus.

The donation is the result of various Chapter events held in 2016 and 2017, including the Penn State Night at the Reading Royals on January 21, raising nearly $2,500 from ticket sales, a jersey auction, and community donations.  The Chapter also agreed to match those funds, bringing the donation grand total to $5,000.

“The Chapter remains committed to this cause and is pleased to donate $5,000 to the Berks Benefitting THON organization” said Chapter President Mike Rowley.  “We also want to thank the community and our friends who attended our events and donated your time and money.  The Four Diamonds is more than just an organization, and THON is more than just a 46-hour event; it’s a movement and a belief that, one day, pediatric cancer patients can be cured.  It’s a commitment and a pledge that we will not let cancer win.  Until a cure is found, we will not rest.”

Rowley and Chapter Vice President John Ginder will be on hand to present the check during the sendoff celebration.  Contributions to Berks Benefitting THON for the 2017 year can still be made by going to https://donate.thon.org/.  Be sure to mark 'Berks' as the designation and do this before 12-noon on Sunday, February 19 so the group receives credit for the 2017 donation period.
